December 24 (SeeNews) - Serbia's telecommunications market regulator, RATEL, said it will publish a public call for the allocation of radio frequency spectrum in the 1710-1785/1805-1880 megahertz (MHz) bands on December 26.

The additional spectrum will allow the provision of telecommunication services based on the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) 1800/Mobile/Fixed Communications Networks (MFCN), including International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT), standards on a technologically neutral basis, RATEL said in a statement on Tuesday.

The deadline for filing applications to participate in the tender will be 10 days from the publication date in the State Gazette, while the bidders will have 45 days to file their offers.

The offer of eligible bidders for the one-off licensing fee should be valued at a minimum 3.5 million euro ($4.3 million) per individual block.

RATEL said that it is ready to issue up to three individual 10-year permits for the additional spectrum.

Serbia, a market of around 7.2 million, has three mobile operators - Telenor, MTS and Vip Mobile, holding 2G and 3G licences.
