Under a three-year auction programme adopted in 2023 Serbia aims to provide at least 1,300 MW of new wind and solar generation capacity through private investment, Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic said in a press release on Monday.

In June 2023, Serbia launched its first auction for 400 MW of wind projects and 50 MW of solar projects, assisted by the EBRD.

The government is looking for bank guarantees for connection to the grid, and in case Serbia's energy system cannot integrate all of the projects for which requests for connection have been submitted, investors have various options to provide additional capacity for balancing, such as battery storage, the energy minister said.
