The second batch will include between 350,000 and 360,000 doses of the vaccine, Mirsad Djerlek, state secretary at the health ministry, said on Tuesday, according to a government press release.

Serbia received the first 4,875 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech on Tuesday which will be delivered to people over 70 years of age at nursery houses starting at the beginning of next week, Djerlek said.

On Monday, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) recommended granting conditional marketing authorisation for the vaccine. The distribution of the vaccines among EU member states is due to start on December 26, and vaccinations will get underway a day later.
