Serbia posts 47.8 mln euro budget deficit in Jan-Oct

December 7 (SeeNews) - Serbia's state budget was in deficit of 5.6 billion dinars ($51.5 million/47.8 million euro) in the first ten months of 2023, compared to a surplus of 25.4 billion dinars in the prior-year period, the finance ministry said.

The deficit recorded in the ten months through October was 21.9 billion dinars less than the gap of 27.6 billion dinars projected in the revised 2023 budget, the finance ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

Total budget revenues rose by a real 11.9% on the year to 1.546 trillion dinars in the period under review, while expenditures grew by 14.4% to 1.551 trillion dinars,

Tax revenues increased by a real 10.1% year-on-year to 1.367 trillion dinars in the January-October period, non-tax revenues rose by 14.5% to 149.2 billion dinars, while grants soared to 29 billion dinars from 9.3 billion dinars in the like period of 2022.

In the month of October alone, Serbia's budget was in surplus of 7.7 billion dinars, after posting a deficit of 44.9 billion dinars in September.

Serbia closed 2022 with a consolidated budget deficit of 235.2 billion dinars.
