Serbia opens COVID-19 hospital in Krusevac

BELGRADE (Serbia), December 21 (SeeNews) - Serbia opened a COVID-19 hospital with 493 beds in Krusevac on Sunday, the government said.

The government invested 9.5 million euro ($11.6 million) in the acquisition of equipment for the hospital, including 150 respirators, Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic said during the official ceremony for the opening of the hospital in the city in central Serbia, according to a government press release.

Patients will be taken care of by 600 doctors, nurses and other medical staff.

Earlier this month, Serbia completed the construction of a COVID-19 hospital in Belgrade, which 530 patients are being treated at present.

According to data from Serbia's health ministry, there were 9,604 hospitalised COVID-19 patients in the country as of Sunday, with 314 of them on mechanical breathing. Serbia has registered a total of 300,062 COVID-19 cases and 2,686 deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic.
