The data centre, spreading on an area of 14,000 square metres, was built in a year and a half and will house Serbia's first platform for artificial intelligence, which will be available to the government, universities, technology parks and startups, the government said in a statement.

U.S. technology company IBM signed a contract with Serbia's Office for Information Technologies and eGovernment earlier this month to become the first commercial user at the data centre.

Chinese telecommunications equipment and services company Huawei also signed an agreement to use the capacity of the data centre.
