Bulgaria, Romania perceived as most corrupt EU members - Transparency Intl

January 28 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria and Romania ranked the lowest among EU member states in Transparency International's 2020 Corruption Perception Index (CPI) global survey, published on Thursday.

Bulgaria and Romania both ranked 69th among 180 countries included in the survey, achieving a score of 44 points out of a maximum 100, the organisaton said in its annual survey published on its website.

However, both countries improved their ranking compared to the previous edition of the survey when Bulgaria ranked 74th, while Romania was 70th place.

Among countries in Southeast Europe, Moldova ranked the lowest - 115th. North Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina followed, as both were ranked 111th.

Slovenia was ranked highest - in the 35th spot, followed by Croatia in the 63rd and Montenegro in 67th. Serbia occupied the 94th place, while Albania and Kosovo shared the 104th position.
