March 1 (SeeNews) - Serbia will open for traffic in October a section of the Milos Veliki motorway connecting the southern Serbian towns of Pakovraca and Pozega, transport minister Goran Vesic said on Friday.
"I inspected the construction works in Munjino Brdo tunnel which were the most complicated ones due to very complex geology, rock structure and groundwater. There were days when contractors advanced by only 0.8 metres a day, " Vesic said in a Facebook post, adding that work will shortly speed up to ten metres every day.
The length of the left tunnel tube in the Munjino Brdo tunnel is 2,755.68 metres, and the right tunnel tube is 2,740.14 metres long. A further 545.5 metres in the left pipe and 526.76 metres in the right pipe remain to be dug out, he explained.
Last February, Serbia opened for traffic the Preljina-Pakovrace 11.5 km long section of the Milos Veliki motorway.
The Milos Veliki motorway will connect Belgrade to Montenegro. Its total length will be 258 km upon completion.
