The project, which was presented to the public on Wednesday, was jointly drafted by Bosnian consulting firm Alfa Invest, Norway's Tokhos and Hungary’s Delta Project, news portal eKapija (www.ekapija.ba) reported.
The project could be developed in private-public partnership (PPP) with foreign companies, eKapija quoted Alfa Invest’s general director, Zdravko Acimovic, as saying.
The co-generation plant, with projected installed capacity of 20 megawatts (MW) of heating energy and 10 MW of electricity, will use around 400,000 tonnes of communal waste from the Sarajevo canton. The plan could generate revenue of 12 million Bosnian marka for the canton while saving 2.5 million marka currently spent on buying natural gas and transportation of communal waste.
