Sarajevo bourse's indices end mixed in Apr, turnover grows

May 9 (SeeNews) - Trading turnover on Bosnia's Sarajevo Stock Exchange (SASE) increased to 65.7 million marka ($36 million/33.6 million euro) in April, compared with 61.4 million marka generated the previous month, the bourse said on Thursday.

A total of 1,975,084 shares changed hands in 213 transactions on the bourse in April, the SASE said in a monthly trading update.

The 10-share benchmark SASX-10 index of the SASE closed April at 965.11 points, up 1.45% compared with its value at the end of March.

The broader SASX-30 index, which is composed of the 30 most liquid stocks on the SASE, edged up 2.31% month-on-month to 1,918.38 points at the end of April.

The SASE index tracking investment funds, the BIFX, was 2.99% lower on a monthly comparison basis at the end of April, at 642.92 points.

The Islamic stock index SASX-BBI of the SASE and Bosna Bank International (BBI) closed at 10,897.40 points at the end of April, up 1.47% from the end of the previous month. The index tracks 25 companies.

The SASE's total market capitalisation amounted to 6.3 billion marka at the end of April, up compared with 6.2 billion marka at the end of the previous month.

Arms manufacturer Pretis [SAJ:UNPRRK1] generated the highest trading turnover among the SASE-listed companies in April. Its shares changed hands in 33 transactions that formed a total turnover of 14.4 million marka. They traded at 10 marka at the end of April, some 17.65% higher compared with the end of the previous month.

The SASE is based in the Federation, one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The country's other bourse, the Banja Luka Stock Exchange (BLSE), is based in the other entity, the Serb Republic.
