RWE Innogy to build four hydropower plants in Bosnia

The hydropower plants will be located on the Drina river, RWE Innogy said in a statement posted on RWE's website after the signing of contracts with state-owned utility Elektroprivreda Republika Srpske (ERS) and the Serb Republic government.

RWE Innogy, the renewable energy arm of German utility RWE (ETR:RWE), had been previously selected as the preferred bidder in the tender procedure for the run-of-river power stations.

Given a positive outcome to the feasibility studies and completion of the planning, the construction of the first hydropower plant may be launched in 2014. The construction of all four power stations is expected to take around five years. The completed series of power plants should generate around 750 gigawatthours per year.
