Russia's Uralvagonzavod unit sole candidate to bid for Serbian steel mill

The deadline for submitting applications for taking part in the tender expired at 1600 hours Belgrade time on Friday, the government's asset-selling agency said in a statement.

The tender procedure was launched earlier this month. The deadline for submitting binding offers is October 26.

In January, the Serbian government signed a deal to take over at a token price the loss-making steelworks in Smederevo from U.S. Steel in a bid to avoid closure and save over 5,000 jobs.
