BUCHAREST (Romania), December 15 (SeeNews) – The Romanian unit of Russian telecoms, IT and microelectronic provider Sitronics, Intrarom, has signed an 11.8 million euro ($17.2 million) contract to supply equipment to the Romanian Interior Ministry, the parent company said.
"Intrarom won the tender by the Romanian Government to supply and install an integrated IT platform, which will be used in the implementation of the Schengen Information System II (SIS II), a secure platform already adopted by a number of European Union countries for the purposes of border control, national security and law enforcement at both national and EU levels," Sitronics said in a statement.
Intrarom will deliver and install the fully functional hardware and software platform in 2010, and also provide configuration set-up procedures, training and other related services, it added.
Intrarom is a subsidiary of Greek Intracom Telecom, which is part of Sitronics telecoms solutions business area.
