SOFIA (Bulgaria), November 13 (SeeNews) – Deals with rural houses in Bulgaria have increased by 40% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2012, Polina Stoykova, chief operations manager and head of property research at real estate firm Bulgarian Properties said on Tuesday.

Rural houses deals in Bulgaria increase 40% y/y in Q3

Rural houses were the best-selling property on the Bulgarian real estate market in the past few months, Stoykova said in an analysis of the Bulgarian property market, posted on the website of Bulgarian Properties.

According to the report, the largest number of sales were rural houses located near Black Sea city of Burgas, accounting for about one-third of the total number of rural houses sold during the July-September period.

The average price of rural houses in the third quarter of 2012 was 22,000 euro ($28,500).

“Sofia seems to be falling behind in terms of market optimism, as this market is driven mainly by Bulgarian buyers, and the starting recovery in the segments of vacation and rural properties is still difficult to be felt in the capital,” the analysis said. “Bulgarian buyers are still concerned with the crisis and the uncertainty in their incomes.”

Meanwhile, the number of beach resort apartments, sold in the third quarter of the year, increased by 30% year-on-year, while the interest was focused mainly on the southern Black Sea. This segment of the market has started to recover driven by Russian buyers' interest.

There is also a trend of increased interest to Bulgarian ski resorts.
