Exports inched up by an annual 0.8% to 31.288 billion euro in the four months through April, while imports increased by 1.7% to 40.609 billion euro, INS said in a statement.
In April alone, exports grew by 14.8% on the year to 8.29 billion euro, while imports rose by 17.8% to 10.962 billion euro.
The European Union absorbed 72.7% of Romania’s exports in the first four months of 2024 and accounted for 73.6% of the country’s imports.
Machinery and transport equipment continued to top the list of the most traded product groups in the review period, representing 47.2% of Romania’s exports and 36.1% of imports. Other manufactured goods followed as the second most traded product group, representing 29.4% of exports and 28.4% of imports.
