April 9 (SeeNews) - Romania’s trade deficit in the first two months of the year shrank by 228.4 million euro, or 5.2%, on the year to 4.142 billion euro ($4.496 billion), the National Statistics Board (INS) said on Monday.
Exports inched down by an annual 0.1% to 15.042 billion euro in the two months through February, while imports decreased by 1.2% to 19.184 billion euro, INS said in a statement.
In February alone, exports increased by 1% on the year to 7.956 billion euro, while imports rose by 2% to 10.130 billion euro.
The European Union absorbed 73.4% of Romania’s exports in the review period, and accounted for 73.6% of the country’s imports.
Machinery and transport equipment represented 47.3% of Romania’s exports and 36.3% of imports, while other manufactured goods made up 13.3% of exports and 10.8% of imports in the first two months of 2024.
