In August the country reported a monthly deflation of 0.09% and an annual consumer price inflation of 8.02%.
The median forecast of three bank analysts polled by SeeNews earlier this week put Romania’s September monthly consumer price index (CPI) at 0.25%. They projected an annual rise in prices of between 7.1% and 7.2% in September.
The average monthly consumer price inflation in the nine months through September was 0.5%, compared to 0.4% in the same period of 2007, the INS said.
Romania's end-year inflation quickened to 6.57% in 2007 from 4.87% in 2006, missing BNR's target band of 3.0%-5.0%.
