Construction output in the EU dropped by 3.1% year-on-year in September, Eurostat said in a statement. Slovenia and Bulgaria ranked second and third in terms of construction output growth, it said.
In April, May and July, Romania also ranked first among the EU member states in terms of rise in construction output, with annual growth rates of 30%, 31.5% and 28.4%, respectively.

Romania joined the EU together with Bulgaria in January 2007. Slovenia joined the bloc in 2004 and entered the eurozone last year.
