Romania's private pension funds end-Sept assets up 50.27% y/y

October 22 (SeeNews) - The net assets under the management of Romania's private pension funds rose 50.27% on the year to 9.32 billion lei ($2.66 billion/2.04 billion euro) at the end of September, the private pension system regulator said on Monday.

At the end of September the funds' assets were 3.11% higher compared to the end of August, the Private Pension System Supervisory Commission, CSSPP, said in a monthly bulletin.

The net assets of Romania's nine mandatory private pension funds jumped by 51% on the year to 8.76 billion lei at the end of September. The number of contributors to the funds rose 5.65% year-on-year to 5.71 million at the end of September.

Romania's eleven voluntary pension funds had 554.89 million lei in net assets at the end of September, up 38.43% from a year earlier. The number of contributors grew by 13.41% year-on-year to 283,118 at the end of September, CSSPP said.

Romania has a population of over 19 million.
