The investment value for the construction and commissioning of the power plant, the largest private greenfield power generation project in Romania in the last twenty years, amounted to approximately 530 million euro ($691 million).

The power station, brought online in August, can satisfy up to 8.0-9.0% of Romania’s electricity demand, equivalent to the consumption of the city of Bucharest.

OMV Petrom started the construction of the Brazi power plant, comprising two gas turbines and one steam turbine, in 2008.
