Unit 2 of the nuclear power plant was reconnected to the grid during the night of December 25-26, Nuclearelectrica said in a statement filed with the Bucharest Stock Exchange last week.
The reactor was shut down in a controlled manner on December 23 in order to repair a defect on an impulse line related to a measurement instrument located in the reactor building.
The repair works as well as the reconnection activities were carried out in compliance with the procedures of the power plant, as well as the protection and safety standards, without any adverse impact on the population, the staff, the installations and the environment, the company said in the statement.
Blue chip Nuclearelectrica operates the country's sole nuclear power plant, located in Cernavoda, in Romania's southeast. The Cernavoda plant has two reactors of 700 megawatts each, which cover roughly a fifth of the country's power needs.
