BUCHAREST (Romania), November 9 (SeeNews) – Romanian state-owned nuclear power plant operator Nuclearelectrica reported a nine-month net profit of 138.1 million lei ($48.2 million/32.1 million euro), up 15.5% on the year, the operator said on Monday.

Nuclearelectrica's turnover rose by 6.2% to 1.13 billion lei through September, the company said in a statement. Further details were not available

Nuclearelectrica operates Romania’s sole nuclear power plant in Cernavoda, in the southeastern county of Constanta. The plant has two 700-megawatt reactors, which provide around 18% of the country's power needs.

Romania plans to build another two reactors at Cernavoda, which are scheduled to become operational by 2015-2016. Construction costs have been estimated at four billion euro ($6.0 billion) with Nuclearelectrica contributing some two billion euro.
