Romania's MedLIfe sees 20% increase in revenue in 2012

Sales rose by 24% on the year to 242 million lei ($33.2 million/27.4 million euro) in the first 11 months of 2012, while the Romania medical services market expanded by 2-3%, MedLife said in a statement.

The biggest increase of 43% was recorded in the corporate healthcare segment, while the individual segment climbed by 39%, MedLife said in a statement. The number of registered patients in the 11 months of 2012 is around 1.68 million and is expected to reach some 2.0 million by end-2012.

The company sees no change in the dynamics of the market in 2013, however, it expects a two-digit growth in sales. Two of the important projects MedLife has set for 2013 are the start of construction works of an emergency hospital and the opening of a molecular genetics laboratory. Both events are expected in the first half of 2013.

MedLife is active in all major segments of private medical services in Romania. It operates six hospitals, eight laboratories, nine clinics and has 28 general medical practices in the country.
