BUCHAREST (Romania), September 3 (SeeNews) – Retail sales in Romania rose by 1.8% in July, the second highest monthly increase among the 27 European Union member states, the bloc's statistics office reported on Thursday.
Retail sales in the EU rose by 0.2% month-on-month in July. The highest growth was recorded in Sweden (2.2%), followed by Romania and Belgium (1.4%), Eurostat said in a statement.

Romania and Bulgaria joined the EU in January 2007. Slovenia joined the bloc in 2004 and entered the eurozone in 2007.
