November 8 (SeeNews) - Romania's retail sales rose by a seasonally and working-day adjusted 5.6% year-on-year in the first nine months of 2022, the national statistical office, INS, said on Tuesday.
On an adjusted basis, sales of food, beverages and tobacco rose by an annual 3.7% during January-September, non-food sales increased 4.3% and sales of fuels were up 9.2% compared to the like period of 2021, INS said in a statement.
Based on unadjusted data, retail sales climbed 4.5% on the year between January-September 2022.
In September alone, Romania's retail sales increased by an adjusted 3.2% year-on-year.
As against the previous month, the adjusted retail turnover volume in September decreased globally by 0.8% due to due to the drops registered by the sale of food, beverages and tobacco (-1.6%) and by the sale of non-food products (-0.8%). The sales of automotive fuel in specialised stores increased by 3.1%.
When compared to August 2022, the gross retail turnover volume in September dropped by an unadjusted 3.6% due to drops registered by the sale of food, beverages and tobacco (-8.3%), by the retail of automotive fuel in specialised stores (-2.2%) and by the sale of non-food products (-0.4%).
The figures do not include trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles.
