November 6 (SeeNews) - Romania's industrial output rose by 4.8% on the year in the first nine months of 2008, the National Statistics Institute (INS) said on Thursday.

Romania's Jan-Sept Industrial Output Rises 4.8% Y/Y - Table

The country's September industrial output was 3.8% higher on the year and 9.9% higher month-on-month.

Breakdown by industry (percentage change, year-on-year):

Jan-Sept'08 Sept'08
Industrial output +4.8 +3.8
- mining +0.1 +6.8
- manufacturing +5.0 +2.6
- utilities +8.5 +20.1

Romania's industrial output rose by 5.4% last year, compared to a 7.1% rise in 2006.
