Romania's Jan-Sept Energy Output Rises 3.0% - Table

November 5 (SeeNews) - Romania's energy output rose by 3.0% on the year to some 18.288 million tonnes of oil equivalent (TOE) in the first nine months of 2008, the National Statistics Institute (INS) said on Wednesday.

Energy imports rose by an annual 0.6% to 12.639 million TOE in the period, INS said in a statement.

A TOE is the rounded-off amount of energy that would be produced by burning one metric tonne of crude oil.

Energy breakdown by sources for the January-September period:

Electricity generated in Romania and imports totalled 48.95 billion KWh in the period, up by 8.8% on the year, as power generation rose by 9.9%.

Romanian exports of electricity in the first nine months of the year went up by 69.5%, or by a net 1,610.4 million KWh.
