October 1 (SeeNews) - Romania issued 28,336 building permits for residential projects in the January-August period of 2019, down 2.3% year-on-year, the national statistical office, INS, said.
Nearly 66% of the residential building permits issued in August alone were for projects located in Romania's rural areas, INS said in a statement on Monday.
In August, residential building permits amounted to 3,766 - down 7.2% year-on-year, and 10.9% lower compared to July.
Construction permits issued for administrative buildings fell to 8 in August, compared with 13 in the same month of 2018, while permits for other buildings rose to 286 from 263 in August 2018.
The total number of permits for residential buildings issued in 2018 was 42,694, up 2.6% on the year.
