The expansion will be finalised by the end of 2023 when the factory will cover roughly 15,300 sq m, with a landscaped green area of over 13,000 sq m, Hamilton Central Europe said in a press release.
“Hamilton Central Europe has become a strong player in the Hamilton family: it manages the laboratory division and offers key services for the entire Hamilton group. The new sheet metal processing division will allow the group to become independent of some key suppliers and exercise full control over product quality,” Hamilton CEO Martin Frey said.
The building expansion will also feature facilities that reduce carbon emissions and photovoltaic panels of up to 700 kW, as a continuation of Hamilton’s investment in 1,180 solar panels this year.
At the beginning of this year, Hamilton Central Europe announced a ten million euro investment in metal parts and its in-house production of components for its own products.
Following its 2022 investments, Hamilton Central Europe expects a 15% expansion of its workforce, edging up to 400 employees by the end of next year.
Hamilton entered the Romanian market in 2013, through the production of microliter syringes and needles used exclusively in laboratories for precision measurements and pipetting in the microlitre range.
The Giarmata factory employs roughly 330 people who produce high-precision laboratory instruments and disposable consumables used in intensive care units across niche markets in Europe, Asia and South Africa.
In 2021, Hamilton Central Europe booked a net profit of 58.9 million lei ($12.6 million/12 million euro), while turning over 235.5 million lei and employing 270 people, latest data from the finance ministry shows.
