Romania's H1 M&A mkt up 86% to $901 mln – Ernst&Young

Extrapolated market size includes all deals except crossborder ones, with market value computed based on average value of disclosed deals.

The number of M&A transactions rose to 67 over the review period from 64 a year earlier. The number of disclosed deals increased to 26 in January-June, from 25 a year earlier, the Romanian branch of the global financial consultancy
said in a statement.

Services, retail&wholesale and manufacturing were the top three sectors in the period with 12%, 10% and 9% of the total number of deals, respectively, the consultancy said.

"At present rumors of upcoming large transactions in 2012 envisage planned privatisations under IMF pressure. Given the short time by the end of 2012, the completion of these privatisations is uncertain," Ernst&Young said.
