Romania's GDP grows 4.7% y/y in Q3 - provisional data

December 7 (SeeNews) - Romania’s economy grew by 4.7% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2022, compared to a 7.6% annual increase over the same period last year, the statistical board said on Wednesday, citing provisional data that confirms earlier flash estimates.

Final household consumption volume rose by 1.6% on the year between July and September, INS said in a statement.

The agricultural sector’s output saw 7.2% growth, while gross fixed capital formation rose by 0.4%. The output of the industrial sector rose by 3.9%, while the construction sector grew by 2.5% on the year.

The imports of goods and services decreased by an annual 3.1%, while exports grew by 2.4% year-on-year during the third quarter of 2022.

On a seasonally adjusted annual comparison basis, Romania’s gross domestic product (GDP) between January and September grew by a real 5% compared to the like period of 2021.

When compared to the previous quarter, the economy grew by 1.3% in the third quarter of 2022, at the same pace as in the second quarter and after registering 1.5% increase in the first quarter of the same year.

Romania’s economic output will increase by an estimated 4.6% in 2022, finance ministry analysts said in October, revising their previous forecast for 3.5% growth.

In 2021, the country's economic output rose by 5.9%, compared to a 3.7% contraction in the previous year.
