Romania's foreign debt rises to 177.7 bln euro in March

May 14 (SeeNews) - Romania's gross foreign debt increased to 177.7 billion euro ($191.8 billion) at the end of March from 170.1 billion euro at the end of 2023, the central bank, BNR, said on Tuesday.

The end-March figure includes 129.1 billion euro in long-term foreign debt, up from 121.8 billion euro at the end of last year, BNR said in a monthly balance of payments report.

Long-term external debt service ratio came in at 15.5% in March, compared to 16.7% at the end of 2023.

The ratio of the BNR’s foreign exchange reserves to short-term external debt by remaining maturity increased to 102.6% at the end of March, from 96.3% at the end of 2023.
