December 22 (SeeNews) - The Romanian energy regulator, ANRE, said it has approved a 0.26% increase in the average price of electricity sold to households in the first half of 2015.

Romania's energy regulator oks 0.26% hike in household power prices

The price increase is lower than initially estimated, ANRE said in a statement on Friday.

Romania must deregulate energy prices according to a calendar agreed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the European Commission, and bring them in line with European levels.

While the process of electricity prices' deregulation has been completed for non-household consumers at the beginning of this year, the one for households is scheduled to last three more years.
