Romania's own electricity output plus the country's imports fell by 2.2% year-on-year to 51.99 TWh in the January-October period, INS said in a statement.
The country’s electricity exports rose by 48.8% year-on-year to 4.09 TWh, as imports more than rose by an annual 58.2% to 6.3 TWh.
Thermal power plants generated 16.1 TWh in the first nine months of 2020, down 16.5% on the year, while hydroelectric power output fell 7.4% to 12.7 TWh.
The production of the country's sole nuclear power plant Cernavoda rose 1.8% on the year to 9.4 TWh in the first ten months of the year.
Electricity generated from wind farms in the January-October period rose 10.4% to 5.78 TWh.
Photovoltaic power stations generated 1.59 TWh in the review period, down 0.7% on the year.
Final electricity consumption in Romania fell by an annual 5.1% to 43.6 TWh in the first ten months of 2020.
Romania produced 2.71 million TOE of crude oil in the January-October period, down 2.4% on the year, and 2.12 million TOE of coal, down 31.4% on the year. The country also produced 5.98 million TOE of natural gas, down 10.6% year-on-year.
TOE is the rounded-off amount of energy that would be produced by burning one metric tonne of crude oil.
Romania's energy production edged down by 0.8% year-on-year to 19.98 million TOE in 2019.
