SOFIA (Bulgaria), September 30 (SeeNews) – Datek Telecom, a Romanian networking services provider, sees its sales rising by at least 14% this year to more than 8.0 million euro ($11.5 million) in line with the overall growth rate of the country’s telecommunication market, a senior official said on Tuesday.

Romania’s Datek Telecom Sees ‘08 Sales Rising 14%, Keeps Pace with Overall Market

Romania's telecommunications market rose by 16.7% to 4.61 billion euro last year.

"Last year we had [sales of] seven million euro and we expect them to exceed eight million this year. We are growing as fast as the market. The segment that we operate in is doing quite well," the company’s executive director Leonard Lichi told SeeNews on the sidelines of the CEE Telecoms Wholesale conference in Sofia organised by EastEuro Link.

Datek Telecom (www.datek.ro) provides integrated networking services for the business-to-business market, including custom networking and networking management systems, data and network security solutions, connectivity, internet, and voice.

"We are an acquisition target, everybody is an acquisition target, but we are not going for sale as we are quite stable. At the same time we are buying companies, we already bought two small companies this year," Lichi said but declined to disclose the names of the acquired firms.

He said the global financial crisis may affect his company’s performance but will not stem growth. “We could be affected by that because most our clients are banks and they would try to reduce costs, stop expanding, but we still rely on persistent growth for our operations,” Lichi added.
