Romania's Consumer Prices Rise 0.39% M/M in September

October 12 (SeeNews) - Romania's consumer prices rose by 0.39% month-on-month in September, compared to a 0.19% fall in August, official figures indicated on Monday.

Annual inflation slowed to 4.94% in September from 4.96% in August.

The median forecast of four local bank analysts polled by SeeNews last week put the September monthly inflation at 0.2%, and the annual inflation at between 4.6% and 5.0%.

The average monthly consumer price inflation in the first nine months of 2009 was 0.4%, compared to 0.5% a year earlier, Romania's statistics office INS said in a statement.

Romania's end-year inflation slowed to 6.3% last year from 6.57% in 2007, way above the upper end of the central bank's 2.8%-4.8% target band for 2008.
