Romania's bank lending growth slows down in Jan

February 27 (SeeNews) - Romanian banks’ outstanding loans to the non-government sector grew 5.7% year-on-year in January, to 384.7 billion lei ($84.1 billion/77.4 billion euro), after a 6.4% annual rise in December 2023, the central bank said.

Private lending in lei rose 5.0% on the year to 263.5 billion lei in January, after growing 5.8% in December, the central bank, BNR, said in a statement on Friday.

Private lending in foreign currency increased 7.1% on the year to 121.2 billion lei in January, as compared to a 7.9% rise the month before.
