Banca Transilvania has also received bids from two other candidates to act as a sale consultant, one of them a foreign bank present in Romania, Ziarul Financiar reported, quoting unnamed sources from the banking sector.

Banca Transilvania officials declined to comment, the daily said.

The bank's largest shareholder is the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) with a 14.54% stake. Banca Transilvania is 61.68%-owned by  Romanian investors.

The bank reported a 197% annual rise in its nine-month net profit to 396.62 million lei ($138.5 million/108 million euro). The bank’s total assets rose to just under 16.47 billion lei at the end of September, up by 18.7% from the end of last year.

Blue-chip Banca Transilvania's shares last traded on September 12, closing 0.38% up at 0.262 lei on the BVB, where it is listed. They are currently suspended from trading due to a capital hike.
