September 30 (SeeNews) - Romania issued 4,652 building permits for residential projects in August, 23.2% down from a year earlier, the country's statistics board, INS, said on Wednesday.
As much as 64% of the permits issued in August were for projects in the country's rural areas, INS said in a statement.
The number of permits for residential buildings issued in the first eight months of 2009 fell by 20% from a year earlier to 33,034. INS issues no figure for the value of the projects which were granted permits.
In 2008 the number of permits issued for residential buildings in Romania rose by 7.9% to 61,092.
