December 16 (SeeNews) - Romania's competition authority said on Monday that it has approved the recent takeover of 18 stores of local retailer Pram Maya by Profi Rom Food.
"Following a review of the transaction, the Competition Council found that it does not raise significant obstacles to effective competition in the market, in particular by establishing or strengthening a dominant position," the anti-trust body said in a statement.

Pram Maya was founded in 2009 by two Romanian entrepreneurs and has 271 employees.
Profi has almost 13,000 employees in stores in 500 locations. It is currently the retail chain with the biggest geographical footprint in Romania.
In November 2016 Mid Europa Partners, a private equity firm focused on Central and South Eastern Europe, bought Profi from Polish Enterprise Fund VI for 533 million euro ($651 million). Enterprise Fund VI bought Profi Rom Food, the company that operates the Profi chain, in 2009.
