Romania's anti-trust body approves takeover of Polisano Pharma by Marcos Provit

November 7 (SeeNews) - Romania's Competition Council said on Monday it has approved the agreed takeover of pharmaceuticals retailer Polisano Pharma by local peer Marcos Provit.

The anti-trust body’s analysis revealed that the acquisition poses no significant threats to the national market and that there are no serious doubts regarding its compatibility with a regular competition environment, according to a press release.

Polisano Pharma sells pharmaceutical and para-pharmaceutical products in 24 pharmacies and a naturist products store located in Sibiu county. In 2021, the company registered a net profit of approximately 4.6 million lei ($921,492/921,492 euro), data from the finance ministry's website showed.

Part of the Evofarm group, Marcos Provit is present on the retail market of pharmaceutical and parapharmaceutical products in specialized stores, as well as on the wholesale market. Evofarm operates over 100 pharmacies across Romania, employing more than 450, according to its website.
