April 11 (SeeNews) - Romania’s consumer prices rose by 6.6% on the year in March, following a 7.2% annual increase in February, the statistical office, INS, said on Thursday.
The average annual inflation rate in the last 12 months was 8.5%, INS said.
Food prices rose by 2.81% year-on-year in March, while non-food prices increased by 8.06%. The price of services grew by 10.2%.
In March, Romania's consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.42% compared to the previous month, with service prices rising by 0.35%, food prices growing by 0.25%, and non-food prices adding 0.57%.
Earlier this month, Romania's central bank said it decided to keep its monetary policy rate unchanged at 7% on expectations of a slowdown in inflation.
