September 23 (SeeNews) - The deposits of the non-governmental sector in Romanian banks grew 14% on the year to 389.6 billion lei ($94 billion/80 billion euro) in August, compared to an annual increase of 13.6% in July, the central bank, BNR, said on Wednesday.
Leu deposits increased 12.7% year-on-year to 251 billion lei in August after growing by 11.5% in the previous month, BNR said in a monthly monetary statistics report.
Foreign currency deposits increased by 16.5% on the year to 138.4 billion lei in August, after growing by 17.4% in July.
