Romania's annual bank deposits growth slows down slightly in August - table

September 24 (SeeNews) - The deposits of the non-governmental sector in Romanian banks grew 8.7% on the year to 341.7 billion lei ($79 billion/72 billion euro) in August, compared to an annual increase of 8.8% in July, the central bank, BNR, said on Tuesday.

Leu deposits increased 6.9% year-on-year to 222.8 billion lei in August after growing by 6.8% in the previous month, BNR said in a monthly monetary statistics report.

Foreign currency deposits increased by 12.3% on the year to 118.8 billion lei in August, after growing by 13% in July.
