December 9 (SeeNews) - Romania's retail sales index fell by 10.9% on the year in the first ten months of 2009, data of the National Statistics Institute, INS, showed on Wednesday.
In October alone the retail sales index was 1.5% lower than in September and 9.1% down on the year, INS said in a statement.
The figures are seasonally and working-day adjusted, and do not include sales of motor vehicles.

NOTE: Vehicle sales include sales of passenger cars and other motor vehicles, as well as maintenance and repair revenue.
Romania's retail sales index increased by 13% in 2008, compared to a 17.8% rise in 2007.
