December 12 (SeeNews) - Romanian road infrastructure company CNAIR said on Monday that a consortium of four local companies was confirmed as the winner of two contracts with a total value of 2.77 billion lei ($594 million/562 million euro) for the construction of two sections of the Buzau-Focsani motorway, after a complaint against the tender outcome was rejected.
After reevaluating the offers, CNAIR again designated local companies SA&PE Construct, Spedition UMB, Tehnostrade and Intertranscom Impex as winners of the two contracts, it said in a press release.
The four companies won the deal in September but the tender result was contested by Turkey-based holding company Tekfen, data on CNAIR's website indicated.
Works should be completed in 26 months, with a ten-year warranty period, CNAIR said in a press release.
The financing for the project comes mainly from EU funds under Romania's national recovery and resilience plan.
The four companies will build lot 2 between Vadu Pasii and Ramnicu Sarat and lot 3 between Ramnicu Sarat and Mandrestii Munteni, as well as a number of road bridges and passages.
The Buzau-Focsani motorway will facilitate access to the Neamt touristic area, located in the historical region of Moldova, CNAIR added.
"If no new appeals are filed, we could sign these two contracts for Moldova motorway this year," transport minister Sorin Grindeanu said in a social media post on Monday.
SA&PE Construct was established in Bacau in 2013 and had 14 employees at end-2021, according to data from the finance ministry.
Spedition, part of the UMB Group, was founded in 1997 and booked a net profit of 29.7 million lei in 2021, data from the finance ministry's website shows. Tehnostrade, also part of the UMB Group, was established in 2004.
Intertranscom was established in 1994 in Bacau and employed 358 at end-2021.
