December 13 (SeeNews) - Romania's majority state-owned postal operator Posta Romana said that it opened a unit in Moldova's capital Chisinau, its first subsidiary outside Romania.
The subsidiary will help Posta Romana significantly increase the volume and frequency of postal services between the two countries, it said in a press release on Monday.
It will continue an existing partnership with its peer Posta Moldovei by offering integrated complementary services such as printing, inserting mail in envelopes and distribution.
Posta Romana employs 24,000 people at 5,500 units. Over 19 million customers use its services and more than 7.5 million postal addresses are covered by the company's own network.
The Romanian state owns 93.52% of Posta Romana, with the remainder held by local property restitution fund Fondul Proprietatea.
