The newly purchased production unit is located on a 250,000 sq m land plot, has three production halls and an adjacent area of 15,000 sq m, Symmetrica said in a press release.
Symmetrica will retain 30 of Somaco's employees, who will join the 60-strong team already in its neighboring factory.
"At the beginning of the year, we mentioned that our expansion strategy includes the southeast of the country, one of the high-potential areas reporting significant year-on-year increases in volumes of sold precast concrete. Acquisition of the Somaco factory Holding in Doaga comes as a natural step in shaping this strategy and marks an important milestone for consolidating our position", Symmetrica executive director Sebastian Bobu said.
Over the next year, investments worth more than 10 million euro will be invested in upgrades at the plant, aiming for the transformation of the site in Doaga into a technology hub with several production lines.
Symmetrica's unit in Doaga was inaugurated in 2018 and manufactures pavement blocks, sewage systems and concrete masonry elements.
Established in 1994, Symmetrica has production facilities in the cities of Arad, Suceava, Brasov, Ilfov, Iasi, Bistrita and Vrancea.
