September 28 (SeeNews) - Romanian opposition Liberal Party, PNL, said it has asked the Constitutional Court to rule on the legality of a unified wage scheme recently adopted by the government.

Romanian Liberals Ask Constitutional Court To Rule on Legality of Unified Wage Law

The law breaches eight of the Romanian constitution's articles, PNL said in a statement posted on its website on Saturday.

Last week, Romania's centre-left government survived a no-confidence vote submitted by the PNL and the Democratic Union of the Hungarians in Romania, UDMR, over a reform package backed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and designed to curb government spending. Besides the unified wage scheme, the package includes laws aimed at restructuring Romania's public sector and overhauling the education system.

The cabinet led by Prime Minister Emil Boc, which took office nine months ago, comprises the centre-right Democratic-Liberal Party, PD-L, and the left-wing Social Democratic Party, PSD.
