The currency ended at 4.5370/5380 per euro compared to 4.5342/5392 on Monday and 4.5322/5372 on Friday.
“The leu opened at around 4.5350 per euro and changed hands between 4.5340 and 4.5375 during the trading session,” a local dealer told SeeNews.
“Commercial flows were very few and interest from both domestic and foreign players was low,” he said, adding that the leu has found support at 4.52 and has met resistance at 4.55.
Romania's central bank, BNR, set its reference exchange rate at 4.5342 lei per euro on Tuesday, compared to 4.5349 lei per euro on Monday. For the U.S. dollar, BNR set the reference exchange rate at 3.5381 lei versus 3.5512 lei on Monday.
Turnover on the Romanian interbank leu deposit market went down to 1.17 billion lei on Monday from 1.22 billion lei on Friday. The central bank will issue Tuesday's turnover figure on Wednesday.
Interest rates on overnight leu deposits fell to 5.27%/5.77% from 5.44%/5.94% on Monday.
